Dreams are like stars...you may never
touch them, but if you follow them they will lead you to your destiny.” Many a dream came true on 24th,25th and 26th May 2011when the dedication and hard work of many students of grades 6th, 7th and 8th was recognized and rewarded in the scholar badge ceremony held in the New Auditorium . Students meritorious in various fields of education were felicitated on this occasion. The program was witnessed by a large number of parents whose hearts was filled with pride and honor as they saw their children receive the coveted recognition. For the Grade 6 Scholar badge,Mrs. Prabha Varma, Principal - Girls Section (5-10), of Indian High School (Dubai), graced the occasion as Chief Guest along with Mr. Amitav Uphadhay - Deen (academic) Skyline University College. Our revered Principal, Mrs Vandana Marwaha, delivered an inspirational speech that gave the students a new zeal towards excellence. She congratulated the students and told them to enjoy the glory for which they had worked so hard. Congratulating all the students, Ms. Prabha Varma also praised the achievement of DPS Sharjah with a special mention about the twelve Hamdan Awardees and two Sharjah Awardees as they were felicitated at the ceremony for soaring new heights in Academic excellence. For Grade 7 Scholar Badge, The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Raymi Van Der Spek, Executive Director , Strategic Development and Administration , University of Wollongong Dubai & Chairman of Australian Business Council Dubai. He inspired the students with his words of great perception. For the Grade 8 Scholar Badge,The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mrs. Madhu Sethi ( Consul and Head of Chancery/ Media and Culture) and the Guest of Honor was Dr. Chandra Sekhar Khuntia. Also gracing the occasion were the senior headmistress,Ms. Mousumi Dasgupta, headmistress Ms. Farah Soonawalla, headmaster Mr. Rajeev, Supervisors Ms. Beena , Ms. Meenakshi and Ms.Sunita Sadhu. Special awards for various categories such as Music, Art, Quiz and Sports were also given to the students who showed exceptional skills in these areas. The prestigious All Rounder awards were clinched by Chirag Thakur (Boys) and Manya Agarwal (Girls) of Grade 6. Grade 7 All Rounder (Boys)-Samarth Sabu and (Girls) Ayeshabi Tigdigar. Grade 8 All Rounder (Boys)-Philip Mathew and (Girls) Arushi Wahi. The school also took the opportunity to enlighten everyone about the charity initiative taken up by the school in the field of education and social responsibility, through the program Aao Sangh Pade. The program involves education of underprivileged girls in DPS Schools located at various states in India. It’s a noble initiative and a major contribution to the society, sending the message that we care. The whole auditorium was vibrant with the cheers and applause of the proud parents who looked on as their children were called to the stage to receive their medals, blazers, certificates and appreciation letters. It was a truly magnificent event leaving fond memories on the sands of time. |
