Day 1: DPS Sharjah starts in style

Basketball
In the opening Basketball match, the host DPS Sharjah girls defeated Gems Modern Academy Dubai by 31 – 14 points. Dyutika scored 17 and Shweta 7 points for DPS.

In the opening match of the Boys Basketball tournament DPS Sharjah defeated Winchester Dubai by 64 – 26 points. DPS boys could maintain clear lead in all four quarters against Winchester. Tushar Ravisankar scored 17 points for DPS including 5 three pointers and well assisted by Aadit Mohnot 16 and Joseph Thomas with 10 points. Satyajit scored 12 points for Winchester.

In another one sided match St. Mary’s Dubai trounced Gems Modern Academy Dubai by 54 – 14 points. Joshua scored 24 points for the winners.

In another exciting match, The Indian High School Dubai boys trounced the challenge of Our Own High School Al Warqa by 53 – 51 points. In the first two quarters Al Warqa boys got slight lead of 20-16 and 12-11 but in the last two quarters IHS boys managed to get the better of Al Warqa by 15-8 and 11-11 points respectively.

In an exciting match, the last year runner up NIMS Sharjah boys defeated Sharjah Indian School by 44–33 points. Mohammed Ummair Khan scored bulk of the baskets for NIMS with 30 points.

In another girl’s match Gems Our Own Dubai trounced Gulf Indian school Dubai by 60-4. Rea Jocob scored the bulk of the basket for the winners with 18 points.

Cricket

In the opening match of Under-12 boy’s cricket tournament the host DPS Sharjah defeated Gulf Indian High school Dubai by 94 runs. DPS Sharjah won the toss and opted the batting and scored 135 runs in 15 overs. Gulf Indian High school was able to score only 41 runs in 15 overs. For DPS Zahan scored 55 runs of 35 balls and Aryansh scored 47 runs of 40 balls.

In another match, The Indian High School Dubai defeated Sharjah Indian School by 28 runs. Sowrabh scored 23 and Vihan 19 runs for IHS. Meanwhile Yuvaraj scored 21 runs for SIS.

Days 2 & 3

Montfort School Delhi Excels
The visitor Montfort School Delhi outplayed St. Mary’s Catholic School Dubai by 54-27 points in the International Inter-school Sundeep Batavia Memorial Basketball tournament for girls Under 18 years. Montfort girls outplayed St. Mary’s through good ball handling, fast break attacks, rebound collections and seems to be one of the probable teams to lift the title. Riya Rana excelled in under baskets with 12 points while Shristi Thakur excelled in dribbling and fast breaks with 8 points. Tanvi Chauhan, Sushantika Chakrhvotty, Simraan Kaur scored 8 points each. Anishka George scored 7 and Rose Jose 6 points for St. Mary’s.

In another girls’ match Winchester Dubai defeated DPS Dubai by 22-12 points. Leen scored 8 points for the winners.

Basketball

DPS Sharjah defeats OOEHS Sharjah
DPS Sharjah girls defeated Our Own school Sharjah by 42 – 28. Dyutika scored 23 points and assisted by Vedika with 12 points for DPS. Sanjana scored 15 points for the losing team.

Millennium Dubai girls outplayed DPS Dubai by 23 – 16 points. Sharon Tony scored 8 points for Millennium while Priyanka Bhasker scored 10 points for DPS Dubai.

In another boys match Gems Modern Academy Dubai trounced Gulf Indian High School by 35 – 17 points. Suraj scored 10 and zaid Khalid Mansoori 7 points for GMA Dubai while Karandeep scored 11 points for GIHS.

In an exciting Boys match DPS Sharjah outplayed The Model School Abu Dhabi by 45 – 35 points. Model school emphasized more in defensive play while DPS dominated through fast break and three pointers. Tanay Maheshwari scored 23, Aadit Mohnot 11 and Tushar 8 points for DPS while Moosa Ashraf scored 16, Abdul Jasir 12 points for Model school.

The Indian High School Dubai defeated Millennium Dubai by 60-34 points. Ahraz Asad scored 19, Ishan 13 and Bryan Crasta 11 points for IHS while Yajur Arora scored 11 points for the losing team.

DPS Dubai boys outplayed ENS Sharjah by 49 -17 points in an unchallenged match. Sharan Sakarla scored 8, Akhil 6 and Aaron 5 points for DPS Dubai while Rahul Bose scored 5 points for ENS Sharjah.


Cricket

The defending champion Modern High School Dubai defeated The Indian High School Dubai by 22 runs in Sundeep Batavia memorial Cricket tournament for under 12 boys. Modern High won the toss and opted batting and managed to score 105 runs for 5 wickets from the allotted 15 overs while IHS Dubai could score only 83 runs for 6 wickets in 15 overs. Ronak and Rudra scored 25 and 22 runs respectively from 18 balls for Modern High.

The last year’s runner up DPS Dubai trounced Winchester Dubai by 137 runs. In the allotted 15 overs DPS team scored 200 runs for 1 wicket. Vivek Aditya alone managed to score 138 runs from 46 balls not out. But Winchester boys could score only 63 runs for 8 wickets.

Emirates National School defeated NIMS Sharjah by 4 wickets in another under-12 Boys’ cricket tournament. In the allotted 15 overs NIMS scored only 79 runs for 4 wickets while ENS scored 81 runs for 6 wickets in the 14th over and won the match by 4 wickets.

Day 4:

The visitors Ahlcon International Delhi, Mont Fort Delhi and DPS Kuwait advances to Quarterfinals  

Ahlcon School Delhi, Mont Fort Delhi, Indian High School Dubai and DPS Sharjah advances to Quarterfinals of the International Inter-school Sundeep Batavia Memorial Basketball tournament for under 18 boys organized by Dps Sharjah.

In an exciting match against the host DPS Sharjah, the visitor Ahlcon Delhi clinched a spectacular win by 60 – 41 points to top Group B. The tough visitors scored most of the under basket attempts and free throws. As visitors exert full court pressure throughout the match, DPS boys were unable to utilize many outnumbering situations and under basket attempts. Tall and tough Delhi boys excelled in rebound collection and counter attacks. Meanwhile the three point specialist of DPS, Tushar was well restricted by Nipun and at the same time Daniel utilized under baskets for the visitors.  Udit excelled in three pointers and scored 21 points for Ahlcon Delhi.

In a neck to neck match which extended to extra time, Indian High School Dubai defeated Mont Fort Delhi by 87- 77 points to top Group A. In the regulation time the score ended up even with each team scoring 77 points. But in the 5 minutes extra time IHS Dubai tightened the defence and scored 10 points continuously. Aakash Mahajan 32 and Ahraz Asad 30 scored bulk of the basket for IHS Dubai, while Shourya Prasan scored 23, Paarth Sharma 17 and Aditya 16 points for Mont Fort Delhi. Both teams advance to quarterfinals.

In the earlier match held on 29/10/14, the visitor Ahlcon School Delhi trounced Winchester Dubai by 70 – 33 points in the International Inter-school Sundeep Batavia Memorial tournament for boys. The long-legged Daniel succeeded his many under basket attempts and could score 23 points, assisted by Vasu 16, Arpit 11 Nipun 9 and Udit 8 points for Ahlcon Delhi. Sathya scored 18 points for Winchester.

DPS Kuwait in Quarter finals

The visitors DPS Kuwait defeated Gulf Indian High School Dubai by 19 runs in the International Inter-school Sundeep Batavia Memorial Cricket tournament for under 12 boys. In the allotted 15 overs match DPS Kuwait hit 104 runs while GIHS could score only 85 runs. Jude scored 38 runs of 34 balls for Kuwait. In another Cricket match Gems Our Own HS Dubai defeated NIMS Sharjah by 5 wickets.

Quarter Finals:

Cricket

DPS teams and GEMS OOIS Dubai reached the semifinals

DPS Dubai, DPS Sharjah and GEMS OOIS Dubai reached the semifinals of International Inter-school Sundeep Batavia Memorial Cricket tournament for under 12 boys. DPS Dubai defeated Emirates National School by 10 wickets in the Quarterfinals. In the allotted 15 overs Emirates National School Sharjah could score only 60 runs meanwhile DPS Dubai boys scored 61 runs from 7 overs. The openers of DPS Dubai, Vivek Aditya hit 40 runs from 16 balls not out and Aditya Shetty scored 18runs.

The host, DPS Sharjah defeated IHS Dubai by 55 runs in another Quarter final. In the allotted 15 overs DPS hit 126 runs while Indian school Dubai could score only 71 runs from 15 overs. Aryansh scored 41 runs from 35 balls and Hardik scored 25 runs from 12 balls. Sawrabh scored 14 runs for the losing team.

Gems Modern Academy Dubai trounced DPS Kuwait by 141 runs. In the allotted 15 overs Gems Modern Dubai scored 216 runs while Kuwait could score only 75 runs. Ronak hit 101 runs from 40 balls not out and Rudra hit 72 runs from 35 balls not out for Gems Moden.

In other quarterfinals, GEMS OOIS Dubai defeated Winchester school Dubai by 69 runs. OOIS Dubai won the toss and opted batting and managed to score 124 runs from 15 overs. Meantime Winchester school was able to score only 55 runs from 15 overs. Nitin hit 50 runs from 35 balls and Sreenivas scored 25 runs from 20 balls for the winners.

Montfort Delhi, DPS Sharjah, Gems our Own Dubai and St. Mary’s in Semifinals

In an unchallenged match the visitors Montfort school Delhi trounced Winchester Dubai by 53 – 18 points in the quarterfinals of International Inter-school Sundeep Batavia Memorial basketball tournament for under 18 girls. Ridhima Khanna 17 and Sushantika 12 top scored for Montfort whereas Leen scored 14 points for Winchester Dubai. In another one sided quarter final match host DPS Sharjah girls trounced Gulf Indian High School Dubai by 65-10 points to meet Montfort Delhi in the Semifinals. Dyutika scored 20 points, well assisted by Lael Ann Balu with 16 points for DPS Sharjah.

St. Mary’s Dubai will meet Gems OOHS Dubai in semifinals. St. Mary’s Dubai defeated Millennium school Dubai by 33 – 16 points meantime Gems OOHS Dubai defeated Gems Modern Dubai by 40- 23 points.

DPS Bangalore, Ahlcon International Delhi, Indian High School Dubai and DPS Dubai in Semifinals

Last year’s winner DPS Bangalore defeated DPS Sharjah by 59-24 points in the quarterfinals. Deeraj Shinde 24, Mukul Mahindra 19 and Aditya 16 scored for Bangalore while Tushar Ravi scored 9 for DPS Sharjah.

In other quarterfinals, the visitors Ahlcon Delhi defeated St. Mary’s Dubai by 37-23 points. Vasu Aggarval scored 16, Daniyal Mirza 9 and Udit 6 for Ahlcon.

Indian High School Dubai defeated NIMS Sharjah by 59-34 in the third Quarter finals. For IHS Ahraz Assad 23, Ishan Sen 15 and Akash Mahajan 10 were the top scorers. In another exiting quarter final match DPS Dubai defeated visitors Monfort Delhi by 78-66. DPS was trailing in the first half by 39-25, but the late scoring spree by Hanan Nisar 32 and Ishan Showkath 31 helped DPS to take lead by the end of third quarter and finally settled the match with 12 points lead. Parth Sharma 14, Peeyush Kumar and Shaurya P Jain scored 13 points each for Montfort Delhi.

In the semifinals which will be held on 3rd November DPS Bangalore will meet Indian High School Dubai and Ahlcon International Delhi will meet DPS Dubai.

Montfort Delhi and Gems Our Own English HS in Girls finals

The visitors Montfort School Delhi will meet GEMS OOEHS Dubai in the finals of International Inter-school Sundeep Batavia Memorial Basketball tournament for under 18 girls organized by DPS Sharjah. Montfort defeated the host and former champions DPS Sharjah by 54 – 31 points in the Semifinals. In the exciting match Sushantika Chakravartty scored 14, Riya Rana 9, Simran Kaur 8 and Shristi Thakur 8 for Montfort while Dyutika scored 17 and Vedika Sanjay 9 points for DPS Sharjah. GEMS OOEHS Dubai trounced St.Mary’s Dubai by 52-19 points in other semifinals. Reshma Tomy scored 15 and Anila Mary Lijo 12 points for the winners while Rose Jose scored 10 points for the losing team.

DPS Bangalore will meet Ahlcon International Delhi in Boys finals

In an exciting match of boy’s semifinals, the defending champions DPS Bangalore outplayed Indian High school Dubai by 67-48 points. As a team, DPS Bangalore played collectively both in defense and offense that helped them to maintain lead throughout the four quarters. Mukul Mahindra scored 21 points mostly from three pointers for Bangalore, assisted by Aditya Jayaraman 14, Sunoj Mysore 12 and Deeraj Shinde 12. Ahraz Asad’s displayed spectacular performance by scoring 20 points, assisted by Aakash Maharajan 17 points for IHS Dubai. DPS Bangalore will meet Ahlcon International Delhi in the finals. In another exiting Semifinals Ahlcon International Delhi defeated the fighting DPS Dubai by 59 – 56. High for Ahlcon: Udit Gupta 22, Daniel Mirza 17 and Vasu Agarwal 14 points whereas Hanan Nizar scored 30 and Sharan Skaria 15 points for DPS Dubai.

GEMS Modern Academy and DPS Dubai in Cricket finals

The defending champions GEMS Modern Academy will meet the runner up DPS Dubai in the finals of the Sundeep Batavia Memorial International Inter-school Cricket tournament for under 12 boys organized by DPS Sharjah. GEMS Modern trounced OOIS Dubai by 9 wickets.  Ronak hit 72 runs from 28 balls for GEMS Modern. In the allotted 15 overs OOIS Dubai scored 98 runs while GEMS Modern scored 102 runs from 7.4 overs for one wicket.

In the other Semifinal DPS Sharjah scored 77 runs while DPS Dubai scored 78 runs from 12.1 overs for 2 wickets. DPS Dubai won the match for 9 wickets. Vivek Aditya scored 41 runs of  25 balls and Aditya Shetty 28 runs of  24 balls not out for DPS Dubai

Finals:

DPS Bangalore retains the Title

The defending champions DPS Bangalore retains the Sundeep Batavia Memorial International Inter-school Basketball tournament for Boys under 18 years organized by the DPS Sharjah. In an exciting tough encounter the cagers from Bangalore edged out the Ahlcon International School Delhi by 57-55 to retain the prestigious International Basketball tournament.  Ahlcon opened the scoring in the very first minute of the start of match from three a pointer by Arpit Kasana. But the hard working Aditya Suresh equalized the score for DPS with another three pointer. Mukul Mahindra’s stunning performance with 19 points mostly from three pointers nurtured the performance of the Bangalore team. Sunoj Mysore of DPS excelled in defensive rebounds while Daniyal Mirza excelled in offensive rebound takes and was able to score 22 points for Ahlcon. In the first quarter DPS scored 15 points while Ahlcon scored 13. In the other three quarters DPS scored 15, 14 and 13 respectively while Ahlcon scored 12, 16 and 14 points.  Deeraj Shinde 14, Aditya Suresh 10, Abhishek Vijayakumar 6 and Pranav Joshi 6 scored for DPS Bangalore. Udit Gupta 16, Vasu Aggarwal 10 and Arpit Kasana 8 scored for Ahlcon. Mukul Mahendra of DPS was adjudged as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament and was awarded the Air Arabia return ticket. Dheeraj Shinde of DPS and Danyal Mirza of Ahlcon secured the Most Promising Player and Player of the Final Match awards respectively.

Montfort Delhi School lifts the Girls championship

The visitors Montfort Delhi School trounced the defending champions GEMS OOEHS Dubai by 57-28 points in the finals of the International Inter-school Sundeep Batavia Memorial Basketball tournament for under 18 girls organized by DPS Sharjah. With a well-organized team game Montfort team dominated both defensive and offensive play over Gems Our own. In the first quarter Montfort scored 16 against 5, 22 – 3 in the second quarter, 7 -16 in the third and 12 -4 in the fourth. Sushantika Chakravortty 20 scored the bulk of the points for the winners, assisted by   Shristi Thakur 12, Riya Rana 8 and Vani Mittal 4. While Anila Mary Lijo 12, Reshma Tomy 6 and Rea Jacob 5 scored for the runner up. Sushantika Chakravorty has been adjudged as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament and was awarded the Air Arabia return ticket whereas the young Srishti Thakur secured the Most Promising Player award.

DPS Dubai lifts Cricket title

The runner up forthe last two years , DPS Dubai, defeated the arch rivals and the defending champions GEMS Modern Academy by 17 runs in the finals of International Inter-school Sundeep Batavia Memorial Cricket tournament for under 12 boys organized by DPS Sharjah. Gems Modern won the toss and opted bowling. In the allotted 15 overs DPS Dxb scored 99 runs for three wickets meanwhile Gems Modern able to score only 82 runs from 14.1 all out. Star batsman Ronok of Gems Modern’s run out without facing single ball tilted the match in favour of DPS Dubai. Aditya Shetty hit 30 runs from 20 balls and Aayam 20 runs from 25 balls not out for Dps Dxb. Siddarth scored 30 runs from 20 balls for Gems Modern.

DPS Sharjah Excels in Table Tennis tournament

Host DPS Sharjah dominated in the 4th Sundeep Batavia memorial inter school Table Tennis tournament by winning the Boys under 18 category and Girls under 18 category. Our Own English HS Sharjah won the Girls under 16 category and the Indian High School Dubai won the Boys under 18. The host DPS Sharjah secured Runner up in both the categories.
