Math Mela by Grade II

15th February 2009, is one day that the students and teachers of Grade II will cherish and remember for a long time. It was the day when Grade II hosted the ever popular Math Cafe titled this year very aptly as "Math Mela". It was a festival of dance, food, colour and Music. The enthusiasm was evident on each child's face as they warmly sang the welcome song to welcome the Chief Guest of the event, the Chairman of DPS Mr. Ashok Chandra.

It was indeed an honour and privilege to have him as the Guest of honour at the event. The song was followed an energetic dance performance by the kids to the foots tapping beats of "Nasik Dhol"

After the enchanting performances of our little ones, the Math Mela was officially inaugurated by Mr. Ashok Chandra and Mr. Dinesh Kothari.But the highlight of the morning was the cafe which was run by the students of Grade II. The children had a great time pretending to be waiters, cashiers and managers.

According to Lyla Ma'am of II-K the children were smart and capable and did their respective jobs without any help from the teachers. Shabnam Ma'am of II-D appreciated the event by stating that 375 children did a wonderful job of feeding almost 800 adults professionally.

Our Headmistress Mousumi Ma'am was so enthralled and spell bound by the performance that she appreciated this over the public address system to the entire primary wing which brought a loud cheer and applause from the students of Grade II.

The parents had some interesting comments to write about the Cafe. Dr. Nandkishan a parent of Grade II gave it a five star rating and appreciated the unique idea and efforts of the children by writing "Great food, cute waiters and wonderful service" Another parent had some thing very interesting to say about the cafe. He wished he could have tipped the waiter or at least shared a samosa with him. It is these such warm words by the parents that made our day in every way.

Mathmela Inauguration

One thing was for sure, all parents at the event had a great time, and even in times of recession, the cafe by Grade II had all its tables booked and parents saying that we should actually open a restaurant and run it by students of Grade II of DPS Sharjah.

Kudos to the children of Grade II !!
