UAE's biggest math puzzle championship opens its doors, to DPS, Sharjah!

We at DPS, Sharjah have experienced, first hand, the interest among our student community for the KENKEN puzzle and the championship. The puzzle has been introduced in our math classes & the response has been overwhelming.

The KENKEN International Championship is an annual puzzle competition being conducted in the UAE for the second time. KenKen Introduction Video. In 2016, over 7000 students from 65+ schools across UAE took part and has been very successful in peeking the interest of students towards competitive puzzling. Watch the KENKEN Emirates level round video here: http://bit.ly/2dMZ9ig

There are 4 levels in this championship: School Level, Emirates Level, and National Level & International Level. 

School Level round generally gets conducted in school with the selection of over 50% Students out of total participants. Selected students at this level will receive a "bronze medal" and a "Certificate of Recognition" and rest of the students will receive certificate of participation.

Emirates Level round will get conducted at a neutral location between Sharjah & Dubai in the month of September. 30% of students will be selected at this level & will be awarded "Silver Medal" & "Certificate of Achievement".

Similarly, National Level round will get conducted at a neutral location between Sharjah & Dubai in the month of October. 160-180 students out of total will be selected at this level and awarded "Momento", out of which 21 will be selected for cash prizes and gold medal, & top 7 among all of them will fly to New York in an all-expense-paid trip to play finals.

Our school will be hosting the school level rounds for KIC 2017, very soon. We request all interested parents to register their children by filling up attached registration form, along with paying one time registration fees of AED 100 with the Accounts department.

Students may register by 28/05/2017.
