The English Department of DPS Sharjah was proud to welcome Soha Ali Khan to talk to the students about her book on 4 October 2018. Soha Ali Khan is a highly successful actress who has created her niche in the world of literature with her phenomenally successful debut book “The Perils of Being Moderately Famous”.

For the students of Word, No Limit Club and the students of Gr X to see an author in the flesh was very worthwhile.

The session began with the brief introduction of the author by the Presidents of The Editorial Club Siddharth and Linsa, followed by a melodious performance by the school band.

Reminiscing his association with Soha Ali Khan, Managing Director of DPS Sharjah, Mr. Kothari applauded the achievements of Soha Ali Khan and enlightened the gathering through his words of wisdom speaking about the motivation and inspiration that the generation of today aspire for.

This was followed by the much- awaited interactive session. The students were very inspired by her interactive sessions when she engaged them in various anecdotes from her life and how it has shaped her as a person. In her interactive session Soha shared her trials and tribulation of being an author and conveyed the message to continue to keep trying. She also spoke to the students about her writing process.

At DPS Sharjah Reading for Pleasure program is highlighted by the school where greater emphasis is laid on reading and has also been made rewarding. Reyhan Shani of 10 N, who has read and reviewed 28 library books was declared the most voracious library reader for the academic year 2017-18 and was felicitated by Principal and Director DPS Sharjah Ms. Vandana Marwaha and Soha Ali Khan.

The occasion also marked the unveiling of the WNL E-publication – MERAKI by the hands of the visiting author.

At the end of the interactive session students had the opportunity to ask questions followed by book signings.

DPS Sharjah with the assistance of MS. Rekha Jenny of DC Books, was privileged to host Ms Soha Ali Khan. The visit was extremely successful and spawned a new following and left a profound and lasting impact on the students.

The program was a huge success and it reflected the careful thought and planning to ensure that everyone gets the most out of the experience.
