Dharini Natarajan from Delhi Private School, Sharjah has emerged the UAE topper with an astonishing 96.2 % aggregate in the grade 10 examination conducted by CBSE, Delhi.

"I did my exams really well but becoming the overall topper has taken me by surprise. I definitely didn't see that coming. When my dad told me the results, I didn't believe him. I thought he was pulling a fast one on me," says a cheerful Dharani" to the media.

Speaking about preparations the 16-year old said, "There was a lot of expectations from me and I studied hard; my parents were extremely supportive and I owe my success to them and my teachers at Delhi Private school, Sharjah."

"I am glad that I made my parents and my principal and my teachers extremely happy. From my mom I got a big hug and lots of kisses," said Dharini.

She wants to pursue Economics after school and to work for the United Nations.

An extremely exultant principal Mrs. Abha Sahgal said: "I am immensely happy and proud to have Dharani as the UAE topper. I am equally proud of every student of grade X and XII who collectively brought immense glory to the school, to their parents and teachers.

In fact I have known all along that DPS has been heading in the right direction in our academic pursuits and we would make it to the top. Our grade 10 and 12 results over the years had been impressive and satisfactory. I am extremely proud of each and every one of my children in grade 10 and 12 and feel overwhelming love and affection for them. I also wish to express my immense gratitude to my staff who worked hard to bring my vision a reality."
