The month of Ramadan in its profound and spiritual breeze envelops our inner spirit with thoughts and feelings, renewed and strengthened, interwoven by mercy, forgiveness, sincerity and kindness, acquired by being cleansed in the cascades of the Qur'an. To instill this spirituality in our students and to inculcate the love of reciting Quran from very young age, DPS Sharjah hosted the Inter House Quran Recitation competition for the classes 6-10. The event was held on 20th May 2019 between 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The competition was held as two segments for Boys and Girls. Four participants took part from each house comprising of 64 participants in total. A pious beginning with the divine recitation of Surat ul Baqarah marked the opening of the event. The middle and senior school boys were the first on list who came up to the dais to recite the beautiful verses from the Quran. This was followed by the girls from grades 6-10. The participants with great zeal and confidence presented their recitations in synch with perfect Tarteel and Tajweed. The auditorium resonated with the beautiful verses from Quran which uplifted the spirit of Ramadan. The judges Ms. Kunhibi, Ms.Amany Farooq, Ms.Amani Hasan and Ms.Lamiya appreciated the students for their flawless recitations.

The winners from Grade 6-8 girls were Ilma Shariq, Wafa saulat, Mehreen Saliha and Arhama Syed. Sana Anas, Farah, Amal and Zarin Halabi were declared the winners from classes 9-10.

From the category of Boys grades 6-8, Hamdan Javed, Qubaib and M. Rayyan bagged the first three positions. Zaid, Shaharyar and Sheikh Abdul Basir were winners from the category of classes 9-10.

The event was organized by the Islamic Department of DPS Sharjah, senior wing with the support and cooperation of the house wardens and the House coordinator.
