The 11^th Sundeep Batavia Memorial Tournament concluded with a gala Closing Ceremony on 4^th November 2014 in the premises of DPS Sharjah following a weeklong celebration of talent and sportsmanship.

The events proceeded after a devotional recitation from the Holy Quran followed by the National Anthems of UAE and India.

A brilliant dance performance by our students enthralled the audience and marked the success of the Sundeep Batavia Tournament.

Our Principal Mrs. Vandana Marwaha, extended a hearty welcome to all the distinguished guests who added grandeur to the event. In her vibrant speech, as an unequivocal patron of games and sports, Ma’am emphasised that the biggest legacy of the tournament is friendship.  She thanked the Management for rendering their unqualified support in hosting this event. The efforts put forward by each and every individual of DPS Sharjah family, not only in hosting this grand annual event but also in achieving distinction and highest recognition for the school, was appreciated and valued by our honourable Principal.

The Chief Guest for the ceremony, Mr. Shyam A Bhatia, Chairman, Alam Steel Group Dubai, in his address, had the highest praise for the picture-perfect conduct of the event. He conveyed that the tournament was a resounding success and the credit for the same lies with the wonderful host, DPS Sharjah.

Mr Ali, HOD, PE department, in his speech talked about this year’s wonderful tournament wherein skill, zest and play contributed to the feeling of true sportsmanship. He explained the importance of sports in our lives, highlighting the benefits that the students can absorb to become successful.

The Sports Vice Captains of DPS Sharjah, acknowledged and thanked the participants of the tournament and applauded the winners of the tournament who participated with killer instinct yet retaining candid sportsman spirit.

The efficient and industrious team of officials who helped to make this event possible were honoured and felicitated. The Events team headed by Ms. Sunita Sadhu and members of the PE department, whose untiring efforts made this tournament successful, were also felicitated.

Then came the most exalted moment of the tournament, the Prize distribution ceremony wherein the successful teams shared their glory and accepted the prizes.

Montfort School Delhi and DPS Bangalore had every reason to cheer as they lifted the titles of 9^th Sundeep Batavia Memorial Inter School Basketball tournament for girls and boys respectively. GEMS OOEHS Dubai (Girls’ team) and Ahlcon International Delhi (Boys’ team) emerged as runners-up.

OOEHS Sharjah and DPS Sharjah teams shine with victory in the 4^th Sundeep Batavia Memorial Interschool Table Tennis Tournament for girls U/16 and U/18 category. In girls U/16 category, DPS Sharjah and U/18 category, OOEHS Sharjah were the runners-up.

In boys U/16 category, IHS Dubai and U/18 DPS Sharjah emerged victorious. In boys U/16 category, DPS Sharjah and U/18 category, Millenium Dubai were the runners-up.

DPS Dubai emerged as champions for 11^th Sundeep Batavia Memorial Inter School Cricket tournament while GEMS Modern Academy Dubai was the runners-up.
