School Gurgaon stunned the Emirates National School Sharjah by 10
wickets in the tenth inter-school Sundeep Batavia Memorial cricket
tournament for boys under 12 years organized by DPS Sharjah. Pathways
World School Gurgaon defeated Winchester School Dubai by 28 – 18 points
in the inter school basketball tournament for under-18 girls. Dechen

DPS Kuwait outplays Sharjah Indian School
DPS Kuwait defeated SIS by 3 wickets in the tenth inter-school Sundeep
Batavia Memorial cricket tournament for under12 boys organized by DPS
Sharjah. In the 15 overs match SIS managed to score only 65 runs for 2
wickets while DPS Kuwait scored 66 runs for 7 wickets.
In another match defending champions Gems Modern Dubai outplayed
Winchester Dubai by 94 runs.
Varun scored 55 and Shivam 45 runs for Gems Modern Dubai.
Basketball (girls) results
Our Own English High School Dubai wins
In an unchallenged match OOEHS Dubai trounced Winchester Dubai by 37 –
14 points in the inter school basketball tournament for under18 girls.
Anila Mary scored the bulk of the baskets with 22 points for the
winners.
The Westminster School Dubai wins
The Westminster School Dubai defeated Our Own English High School
Sharjah by 34 – 14 points. Diya Jacob scored 11 and Yasmin Ibrahim 9
points for the winners while Sajana Ganesh scored 11 points for Our Own
English High School Sharjah.
The Millennium Dubai wins
The Millennium Dubai wins over Gems Modern Academy by 28 – 18 points.
Shreya Munge scored bulk of the baskets with 20 points for the
winners while Bonfilia Pereira scored 13 points for Gems Modern Academy.

Basketball (boys) results
NIMS Sharjah wins
In a well challenged match the last year runners up NIMS Sharjah
defeated Our Own English High School Sharjah by 54 - 44 points in the
inter school basketball tournament for under18 boys. Abhil Dev Arun
scored 12 and Thoufeeq Shihabudeen 11 points for Nims while Vyshakh
scored 19 points for OOEHS.
DPS Dubai wins
In a neck to neck match, DPS Dubai outplayed St. Mary’s Dubai by 45 – 43
points in the group match which was held on 26th Oct. Sharan
S 15, Hanan Nizar scored 14 and Ishan Shoukath 13 points for DPS Dubai
and Alston Bang Correya scored 17 points for St. Mary’s Dubai.
Winchester School Dubai wins
Winchester School Dubai defeated Westminster School Dubai by 60 -42
points. Satyajit scored 21 and Karim Mansoua
scored 16 for the winners while Carl Joseph scored 22 points for
Westminster School Dubai.
In an exciting match The Millennium Dubai outplayed Sharjah Indian
School by 36-34 points. Yajur Arora scored 16 points for the winners
while Aadil Abdul scored 20 points for SIS. Matches on 26th Oct
The Indian School Dubai wins
In an unchallenged match, The Indian School Dubai trounced Gulf Indian
School Dubai by 79 – 16 points. Aakash Anil Mahajan 17, Mohammed Nassif
15, Andrews 13 and Bryan scored 12 points for IHS Dubai. Rangana scored
16 points for the losers.
DPS Dubai outplayed The Millennium Dubai
DPS Dubai outplayed The Millennium Dubai by 50 – 30 points. Sharan
Sakarla scored bulk of the baskets by 24 points for DPS Dubai assisted
by Ishan who scored 12 points and Hanan Nizam who scored 10 points while
Ashley D’Silva scored 16 points for The Millennium Dubai.

Day 6:
DPS Sharjah teams in Semifinals DPS Sharjah boys and girls basketball teams reached the semifinals of 8th Sundeep Batavia Memorial Inter school basketball tournament for under18 boys and girls organized by DPS Sharjah. Basketball (Girls)
In the girls quarterfinals DPS team defeated Westminster Dubai by 35 –
24 points. DPS girls’ team got a clear margin of 16 against 6 points in
the second quarter and was able to maintain the lead throughout the
game. Dyutika scored 16 and Shwetha 11 points for the winners while
Parya Rahim scored 8 points for Westminster Dubai.

Millennium Dubai
outplayed Pathways School Gurgaon by 32-18 points. Danila Desilva scored
12 and Shreya Munge 9 points for the winners. Dechen Butia scored 10
points for Pathways School Gurgaon.

OOEHS Dubai
defeated St. Mary’s Dubai by 39 – 35 points. In the neck to neck match
Anila Mary scored bulk of the baskets for the winners with 21 points
while Natasha scored 12 points for St. Mary’s Dubai.
3. Indian
High school Dubai trounced DPS Dubai by 37 – 2 points. In a one-sided
match, Saniya Massey scored 10, Namisha 9 and Nandita 8 points for the
winners. Defending champions DPS Sharjah will meet Our Own English School Dubai. Millennium School Dubai will meet the Indian High School Dubai. Basketball (Boys) The defending champions DPS Sharjah boys’ team trounced Pathways school with a clear margin of 63- 33 points. DPS team dominated both offensive and defensive play and restricted the visitors scoring from under baskets. The towering 6.3 feet Prateek converted creatively most of his under basket attempts and was able to block most of the under basket attempt of the Pathways. Prateek scored 26 points for DPS ably assisted by the efficient ball handler Abraham, who scored 13 points mostly from 3 points shots. Captain Karun Kumar Mehra scored 14 points mostly from his fast breaking attempts. Benjamin Murray scored 12 points for the visitor team. DPS Sharjah will meet NIMS Sharjah and the Indian High School Dubai will meet DPS Bangalore in the Boys semifinals. Cricket Last year’s runners up DPS Dubai defeated Pathways Delhi by 92 runs to meet host DPS Sharjah in the 10th Sundeep Batavia Cricket tournament to be held tomorrow. For DPS Dubai Vivek scored 81 not out. Anikrish scored 18 runs from 16 balls for Pathways. DPS Sharjah defeated Winchester Dubai by 4 Wickets. NIMS Sharjah reached the Cricket semifinal by defeating Emirates National School by 8 wickets. For NIMS Fahad scored 52 runs from 42 balls without losing his wicket. DPS Dubai will meet DPS Sharjah and NIMS Sharjah will meet Gems Modern Dubai in Cricket Semi finals. |

Day 7: DPS Bangalore In Finals
The visitor, DPS Bangalore trounced Indian High School Dubai by 50 -20
and advanced to play against NIMS Sharjah in the finals of 8th
Sundeep Batavia memorial inter school Basketball tournament for under-18
boys organized by DPS Sharjah . Nikhil Sai scored 14, Siddarth 12 and
Narayanan 11 points for DPS Bangalore.
In another close and exciting boys’ semifinal match, between the last
year finalists, NIMS Sharjah defeated DPS Sharjah by 42-40 points. DPS
Sharjah initiated a good start with Karun and Prateek and was able to
score 9-8 in the first quarter.
But in the subsequent quarters NIMS Sharjah overcame the pressure
of DPS and was able to maintain 2 points lead of 16 to 14, 30 to 28 and
42 to 40 in each quarter.
Mohammed Safeer scored 13, Mohammed Umair khan 12 and Abail Dev 9 points
for NIMS while Prateek scored 16, Nemeer 8 and Karun 7 points for DPS
Sharjah.
In a neck to neck Semifinal match OOEHS Dubai defeated the defending
champions DPS Sharjah by 44 – 39 and advanced to the finals of 8th
Sundeep Batavia Memorial inter school basketball tournament for under 18
girls organized by DPS Sharjah. Anila Mary excelled in under basket
attempts with 21 points for the winners and assisted by Ranjana with 9
points. In the first quarter OOEHS Dubai gained the lead of 13 points
against 7 and could maintain the lead. Dyutika of DPS Sharjah made some
solo attempts and scored 16 points and was assisted by Shweta Bhatia
with 13 points mainly from three point shots.
In another exciting semifinal match, Indian High School Dubai overcame
the challenge of Millennium Dubai by 38-30 points. B K Ritu scored bulk
of the baskets for the winners with 17 points. Meantime Shreya Munge
scored 14 points for Millennium Dubai. Indian High School will play
finals against OOEHS Dubai on Wednesday.
DPS Dubai will
meet Gems Modern Dubai in finals
DPS Dubai reached the finals of 10th Sundeep Batavia memorial
inter school cricket tournament for under 12 boys by defeating DPS
Sharjah by 7 wickets and will play against the defending champions Gems
Modern Dubai in finals on Wednesday. Gems boys defeated NIMS Sharjah by
103 runs.
In the 15 over match DPS Sharjah scored only 63 runs meantime DPS Dubai
managed to score 65 runs for 3 wickets. Rajansh scored 14 and Mohit 11
runs for the winners while Nathan scored 17 runs for DPS Sharjah.
In the other semifinals match Gems Modern Dubai scored 185 runs from the
allotted 15 overs. But NIMS managed to score only 82 runs. Shivam scored
78 runs from 34 balls and Varun scored 35 runs from 19 balls for the
winners. |

DPS BANGALORE, GEMS OUR OWN AND GEMS MODERN WINS SUNDEEP BATAVIA
MEMORIAL BASKETBALL AND CRICKET TOURNAMENTS
The visitors DPS Bangalore defeated the last year’s runner up NIMS
Sharjah by 57 – 34 in the finals of the 8th Sundeep Batavia
memorial inter school Basketball tournament for Boys under 18 years
organized by DPS Sharjah. With well-organized team work, Bangalore boys
dominated both defensive and offensive play over the local lads NIMS. In
the first quarter DPS scored 12 – 7 and in the last quarter 24 – 7 to
triumph the championship. Mukul Mahindra scored 22 points including 4
three point shots for DPS. Meanwhile with excellent dribbling skills and
speed Mohammed Safeer often penetrated into the restricted area of DPS
and scored 18 points including 2 three point shots.
Siddha and Shivam scored 10 and 9 points each for the winners.
Mohammed Ummer scored 8 points for NIMS. Mukul Mahindra of DPS Bangalore
has been declared as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament and
secured Air India Ticket. Mohammed Safeer of NIMS Sharjah has been
adjudged as the player of the final match. Sidha of DPS has been
adjudged as the Most Promising Player of the tournament.
GEMS OOEHS Dubai wins girls title
While for the girls title, Gems Our Own English High School Dubai
outplayed The Indian High School Dubai by 51 – 46. In the exciting match
both teams changed the lead over
other till the end of third quarter but in the last quarter, through
some splendid fast breaking attempts and counter attacks Our Own girls
managed to get a lead of 6 points at the fag end of the game to lift the
prestigious Basketball championship. Anila
Mary Lijo scored bulk of the baskets for Our Own Dubai with 35 points
and secured the Most Valuable Player of the tournament award and Air
India Ticket. For Indian High B S Ritu fought hard till the end and
scored 17 points to secured Player of the Final match award. Nandita
scored 13 points for IHS Dubai. Dyutika of DPS Sharjah has been adjudged
as the Most Promising Player in the Girls tournament.
Gems Modern Dubai wins Cricket title
In the 10th Sundeep Batavia memorial inter school
cricket tournament for Boys under 12 years Gems Modern Academy Dubai
retained the title by defeating last year’s finalists DPS Dubai for 8
wickets. In the 15 over match DPS Dubai scored 76 runs for 7 wickets
while Gems Modern achieved the target of 77 runs from 9 overs for 2
wickets. For Gems Modern Shivam scored 51 runs from 29 balls without
losing his wicket.
Varun Nayanar of Gems Modern Dubai won the Man of the Series Award and
Air Arabia ticket to India and back. Best Bowler: Harishankar (Dps

DPS Sharjah, Indian High School Dubai and Our Own Sharjah Girls Win
Table Tennis Tournament
DPS Sharjah dominated the 3rd Sundeep Batavia Memorial inter
school Table Tennis tournament by retaining the under 18 boys and under
16 girls championships. DPS won the runner up position in the girls
under 18 years category as well.
Under 18 boys
DPS Sharjah boys trounced Millennium Dubai by 3-0. Animesh Joshi beats M
Vikas by 3-0. Prateek Suraj beats Raveen 3-1.
Chinmay Rele beats Malhaar 3-2. Animesh Joshi of DPS Sharjah
declared as the best player of the tournament for under 18 boys category
and grabbed an Air India ticket to India and back.
Under 16 girls
In the girls under 16 years DPS Sharjah defeated OOEHS Sharjah by 3-0.
Stacey beats Christy 2-0. Shradha beats Aishwarya 2-0. Sarah beats
Nandhana 2-0. Sarah Mathew of DPS Sharjah was declared as the best
player in this category.
Under 18 girls
OOEHS Sharjah won the championship after defeating DPS Sharjah in the
finals. Hanan of OOEHS Sharjah declared the best player in the under 18
girls category.
Under 16 boys
The Indian High School Dubai won the Under 16 boys championship by
defeating Millennium Dubai by 3-1. Yash of Indian High School declared
as the Best player in the under 16 years category. |
