Investiture Ceremony (Senior Wing): Empowering Future Luminaries

As the saying goes, “Leaders are not born, but made”, DPS Sharjah, in its quest to unlock and inculcate leadership qualities among its students, organized this year’s Investiture ceremony on Tuesday, the 2nd of May,2017, at the New Auditorium of the senior wing. It is an event to felicitate the new torch-bearers among the students as also the House Wardens of the academic year 2017-2018. It is a proud moment not only for the students, but also for their parents who attended the occasion and felt gratified to be a part of the event.

The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Dinesh Kothari, the honourable Pro Vice-Chairman of DPS, Jodhpur,DPS-Sharjah,DPS- Dubai and NDPS-Sharjah, who was the chief guest of the occasion, accompanied by esteemed guests from DPS,Jodhpur which comprised of Ms. Abhilasha, Headmistress of the Middle School and Mr. Sachin, faculty of the Science Department.

The ceremony commenced by invoking the blessings of the Almighty through recitation of divine verses from the Holy Quran. This was followed by a melodious welcome note by the students which reverberated through the auditorium, setting the mood of the event. After the recital, our honourable chief guest, Mr. Kothari, our esteemed Principal and Director Mrs. Vandana Marwaha, the revered guests from DPS,Jodhpur and the Headboy and the Headgirl of the academic year 2017-2018 joined in the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.

 

Our esteemed Principal and Director Mrs. Vandana Marwaha set the tone of the morning through her motivating speech. In her welcome note, Mrs. Marwaha said that Investiture Ceremony is the first step we take in imparting leadership skills on the “youngest administrators” of our institution. She further added, that our students should be imbibed with the necessary skills so that they become independent decision-makers in future.

This was succeeded by an enthralling performance by the students, based on the theme of leadership. The mesmerizing demonstration was followed by the march-past of the Prefectorial Board members, who smartly paraded to the stage to take up their responsibilities and become the official torch-bearers of the new academic session.
Then came the most anticipated moment of conferring the badges to the newly appointed post-holders by our honourable chief guest Mr.Dinesh Kothari and our respected Principal and Director Mrs. Vandana Marwaha. Mr. Kothari administered the oath-taking ceremony along with Mrs. Marwaha, in which the youngest administrators of the institution were conferred responsibilities of taking their Alma Mater to new heights in its pursuit of excellence.

In his speech, our venerable chief guest Mr. Kothari inspired the students by his edifying words of wisdom. He said, the students should not only aim at achieving academic excellence but also strive to become wonderful citizens of the future world. He also added, since the Prime Minister of U.A.E. has declared this year as the year of giving, let this year be the year of giving and the year of happiness for all.

The inspiring speech of the chief guest was succeeded by the maiden speech of the Head-boy Rohan Kapur and the Head- girl Neha Swaminathan in which they promised to fulfil their duties and responsibilities with utmost sincerity and strive to instill “discipline as a habit” among their peers.

The valedictory speech was delivered by the Vice Head-boy and the Vice Head-girl followed by the National Anthem of U.A.E. and India, sung with great zest by not only the students, but all present in the auditorium.

Thus, as the event concluded, the solemn promise of the new torch-bearers, beaming with confidence, to prove themselves as responsible administrators of today and of future, resonated through the air.
